Cathay Pacific Services Limited Appointed to Handle AirAsia Cargo Services in Hong Kong

17 June 2014

Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL) is pleased to announce its appointment as handling agent for AirAsia’s cargo operations and documentation at the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal. Operations have been running smoothly since CPSL began providing services for AirAsia on 15 May 2014.

Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad Ms Aireen Omar said, “We are fastidious about cost efficiency and competency in every aspect of our operations, and are glad to find a compatible partner like CPSL which recognises our operational needs and has a good understanding of our business model.

”Cargo is one of the important revenue streams for AirAsia and it is crucial to have a partner which adds more value to our services. What we do is challenge the conventional perception that Low Cost Carriers (LCCs) are unsuitable for cargo, due to the quick turnaround time. With CPSL on board, we look forward to quashing that perception further and changing the face of the cargo industry.”

CPSL Chief Executive Officer Algernon Yau said: “We are delighted to gain this vote of confidence from AirAsia. Offering reliable and efficient services to all customers is at the heart of our business strategy at the Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal. It is our goal to raise overall industry standards and support the growth of all customer airlines using the terminal’s services. We will continue to develop these services and help sustain Hong Kong’s competitiveness as the preferred airfreight hub in Asia.”

A spokesperson for ASR Holdings, which acts as the General Sales Agent for AirAsia in Hong Kong, said they are “pleased to witness the airline entering into cooperation with a world-class cargo terminal”.
